// From Bont-Goch to Barbados

At our recent presentation event we were delighted to announce that the marshals’ prize for a trip to next year’s Sol Rally Barbados was won by Laura Sugden.

Of the 666 volunteer marshals that supported this year’s Get Connected Rali Bae Ceredigion, Laura’s name was drawn out of a hat at the finish - and it would be safe to say that she was excited to hear the news:

“When Charlie Jukes (RBC commercial manager) first messaged me and said he wanted to call, I thought I might have done something wrong at the rally. But when I spoke to him he sounded happy, so it couldn’t have been that. I told him it was a brilliant event and we really enjoyed the day. We chatted for a while, but I still didn’t know what he wanted.

“But then he told me I’d won the prize to go to Barbados. I just couldn’t believe it! I mean, things like this just don’t happen every day. I was at work at the time and I was so stunned the people around me wondered what was going on. I shall always remember the day; where I was, what I was doing...

“I’ve never been to the Caribbean before, so it’s going to be an amazing experience and I just can’t wait!”

Laura, a Tipper Truck driver from Kidwelly, marshaled on junction 4 - not far from the Fan Zone in Caws Cenarth Bont-Goch - stages 1 and 5. Her partner Nathan, who was also marshaling in the day, will join her for trip to Rally Barbados, which takes place from 29 to 31st May 2020.
